First Hitachi EH1100-5 dump trucks in Kazakhstan
New EH1100-5 dump truck was first presented at CONEXPO-CON/AGG- 2014 in Las Vegas. In autumn 2015, trucks of this model were first delivered to Russia and the CIS. Shubarkol Komir JSC (Kazakhstan) replenished its fleet with four new EH1100-5 trucks, in addition to the six EH1100-3 trucks already in use.
The new EH1100-5 dump truck was already appreciated by the staff of Shubarkol Komir JSC in the real conditions of open-pit coal mine. Depending on the nature of truck operation, the Hitachi dump trucks have a wide range of options for maximum compliance with the operating conditions. Given the physical and mechanical properties of the coal at the Shubarkol Komir quarry, the EH1100-5 dump trucks were delivered with increased volume body - 68 m3.
With three years of experience operating EH1100-3, driver Kanat Kazhibekov notes after relocating to the new Hitachi 5-series model: "The main advantage of the EH1100-5 is a comfortable cabin. Seat and exterior mirrors heating systems are ideal for extreme operating conditions typical for our location. In addition, the cabin has plenty of room for your legs. Access to the cab is now more convenient due to the new stairs, and the display is even easier to use: it displays more information, and the functions you need are very fast to locate. I use the display to view basic data, such as the level of fuel and operating fluids, as well as the weight of loaded coal. The rear view camera automatically turns on when reversing and helps me monitor the situation on the site.
The truck works really well in any conditions. Brakes are effective even on slippery roads or when there is a need for a sharp stop. The automatic transmission demonstrates its use at maximum load: it makes the work more comfortable versus mechanical mode of transmission, and at the end of a 12-hour shift I feel less tired".
Shubarkol Komir JSC is one of the largest producers of semi-coke and steam coal in Kazakhstan, employing 2,700 people. In 2015, the company produced 10.3 million tons of coal, which exceeds production in 2010 by more than 70%.
The dedicated maintenance team of Turkuaz Machinery, the official Hitachi dealer, ensures that Hitachi trucks owned by Shubarkol Komir JSC operate 24 hours a day, and helps reduce the operating costs of this geographically remote coal-mining site. Overburden rock and coal are extracted here by four super-large Hitachi excavators supplied by Turkuaz Machinery: EX1900-6, EX3600-6 and two EX3600-6E. The excavated material is transported by Hitachi rigid-frame haul
trucks: four EH3500ACII, as well as EH1100-3 and EH1100-5.
Tuleugen Akbayev, the President of Shubarkol Komir JSC, says: "We are very satisfied with the Hitachi equipment. The main advantage of Hitachi machinery for our business is reliability". Turkuaz Machinery has been working with Shubarkol Komir JSC since the delivery of the first EX1900-6 excavator in 2009. In the same period, a project was launched to provide round-the- clock technical support for Hitachi machinery, which is still in operation.
